Mindfulness is a way of practicing meditation. It’s about taking a few minutes out in a day for yourself to forget the problems and thoughts that plague your mind. In essence you must live for the present, not the past or future.
Today people from the age of 18-30 are said to be the most stressed demographic in our society. There are many problems and issues that cause stress. Success, money, the media and relationships are amongst the problems that we experience in our day to day lives. Our minds are plagued with thoughts of what already happened and what might happen in the future. Instead, we should be concerned with what’s happening with us at the very moment.
Take 5 is aimed at this young demographic to help them de-stress and take time out in the day to practice mindfulness. At the same time it doesn’t associate mindfulness with what people stereotypically think of meditation. Take 5 asks us to take 5 minutes out in the day to concentrate on ourselves by following 5 simple steps.
