the age of distraction
“We live in curious times. It’s called the Age of Information, but in another light it can be called the Age of Distraction.” This project is about finding the simplicity in this age of distraction. To become more mindful over the present moment as opposed to investing attention on superficial external distractions or noisey ‘over- analysed’ internal distractions. Our attention spans are continuously decreasing thanks to the “hyper-linked” nature of technology. Skimming through short-cuts through a web of distractable information, are we really taking everything in? We could be missing significant moments of our lives thanks to adopting to these tabloid sensisbilities. This is why it’s so important to keep it simple, focus on one thing and be present in that current moment. This project aims to encourage people to stop ‘skimming’ through different moments in their life. To pay more attention to detail, ‘the fine printed’ nature of things.
