“It all depends on whether you have things, or they have you.”
We get attached to many objects and people throughout our lives. We start early with our favourite toys, continuing with phones, computers and cars, to name a few. We are attached to people around us, our parents, families, friends, spouses. We tend to condition our happiness on these attachments, for instance, we think that new phone will make us happier; or new relationship will get rid of all the insecurities and problems. We tend to rely on objects too much, as if they define us. I wanted to investigate how attachment works, when it starts and how it influences our lives, especially in our relation towards objects.
Based on the research and personal experiences, I wanted to visualise the state of attachment that everyone can relate to. The project explores personal attachments in its many forms.
