a fairy scary story
The title of this brief was “Engage” and I could interperate this word in anyway I wished. My approach was to research how people have engaged with fairytales through the ages. Unless your childhood was devoid of cartoons and storybooks, you should be quite familiar with fairytales featuring the likes of Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. They’re all saccharine sweet and full of happily ever after, which masks the fact that they are based on very gruesome, bloody tales that were never meant for children. These days, companies like Disney have sanitized them for a modern audience that is clearly deemed unable to cope, and so we see happy endings everywhere or do we?
