Ireland is an island nation, but surprisingly does not use the ocean to its full potential. We are surrounded by water on all sides and no part of Ireland is over a hundred kilometres from the sea. Many of us take this for granted. We do not consume much seafood in Ireland although our waters are teeming with sea life. We do not engage in many water-based activities, despite Ireland having ideal conditions for most water sports. Many people also may not be aware of the oceans’ many healing properties. SEA is a bi-monthly magazine, published in Ireland, which focuses on being in, near and on the water. The purpose of the magazine is to highlight this incredible resource, how it is sometimes taken for granted, promote engagement with it and bring to light the countless benefits associated with it.
