Languages form an important part of a country’s identity. With the numbers of fluent Irish-speakers decreasing each year in Ireland, are we losing a distinct part of our identity as a nation? I set out to explore this question for my final year project.
Letter writing is becoming a lost art due to the rapid development of technology. The art of writing a letter is something that we should treasure. Ones deepest thoughts and feelings can be expressed through a simple combination of handwriting, ink, envelopes and paper. This exhibition piece documents my personal collection of letters and stationery whilst examining the rituals associated with this age-old practice.
