english language; origin, role, future
This book is a contemplation of the English language, its origin, it role, its future. As an indo- European language English was initially a diverse group of dialects, reflecting varied origins but these gradually converged in the 8th century as a result of territorial battle and victorious conquer.
The digital age has seen the English language become increasingly important as an international language seeing it once again splinter off into variations of itself as non-native speakers introduce alternative usage. Its future therefore belongs to the non native speaker and will no doubt see it become as diverse as is necessary to maintain its relevance as a lingua franca.
