Kevin Grennan

After graduating from Limerick, I moved to London to do a series of work placements, after spending a few months at a number of different design agencies I took a job at a small agency named Unreal. I spent three years there before deciding to go back to education and study for a Masters on the Design Interactions programme at the Royal College of Art. in 2011, I graduated from the course and moved to San Francisco to work at Google as a User Experience Designer at the end of the summer.

advice for students:

What advice would you give to students who are beginning their studies?
Work hard, be aware of what students in other parts of the world are doing and think about graphic design as a skill, not a job description.

And for students about to graduate?
I feel your pain, it was hard in 2006 in the middle of a boom. Get some experience any way you can. Never work for free (except for your mum). If you can’t get a job designing, apply your skills in other areas.
